Who owns the source code and IP?

You do. Custom code, architecture documents, database schemas and deployment pipelines transfer to your business as each milestone is paid, and you have access to the private repository from the first day. There are no licence fees to keep using what we build.

Do you charge a fixed price or by the hour?

Fixed price, milestone by milestone. After discovery you get a fixed-scope proposal with agreed deliverables and dates. For ongoing work after launch, we offer a monthly retainer based on your roadmap.

How long does a typical build take?

Most focused systems, such as an AI pipeline, a web application or a mobile tool, take 4 to 8 weeks from kick-off to launch. Larger integrations and multi-system programmes usually run for 10 to 12 weeks, in stages. Either way, you see working software every two weeks.

How will we communicate during the project?

Directly with the engineers building your system, never through an account manager. You get a shared Slack or Teams channel, a weekly walkthrough of working software, and a staging environment where you can try progress yourself.

What happens after launch?

Every project includes a 30-day warranty: we fix defects in the delivered scope at no cost. After that, you can move to a retainer for monitoring, dependency updates and new features, or run the system yourselves with the documentation we hand over.

How do you handle data privacy and security?

SoftBytes is a UK company, and we work to UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. We use only the data a project needs, keep credentials in a secrets manager, encrypt traffic with TLS, and never use your data to train public AI models.
